| Another super Eldridge Cup Final. Many thanks to Adrian, Bob, Joan and
Martin and colleagues at Airbus BC for hosting our Final this year. An
overcast but dry evening, and a well prepared green made for a
couple of hours of first class bowls - the gathering of over 70
were not disappointed.
Parciau started the more confident, gathering a lead of 10 (before h/c applied) after the first 3 blocks; this was to prove just beyond the experienced Hoole team to pull back. But not for the want of trying. Craig Griffiths pulled his team back from the brink with a superb break of 9, which in the end proved to be a match winning performance. Congratulations to Parciau, and commiserations to Hoole - losing finalists two years running. Third time lucky perhaps? Thanks to Len Harrison, our referee, for his usual unobtrusive officiating. Last but not least. the whole event from early summer(?) through to the final was orchestrated by Lesley Williams with her usual attention to detail. Thanks Lesley from everyone involved. |
